Today I’m known as ‘The Digital Guide’. That person who helps business owners understand and leverage technology in their business.
I’ve delivered thousands of engaging workshop and webinars. Spoken to countless business owners across the country and I’m regularly featured by the media to help calm technology fears and make digital transformation more accessible.
As part of my social enterprise my mission is to close the digital divide for small business owners and end technophobia once and for all.
Like all good stories, mine has been over thirty years in the making. If you checkout my timeline below you’ll get a pretty good idea of how my life has unfolded to become ‘The Digital Guide’.
The Journey from Tracy Sheen to the Digital Guide
Born in Sydney. The same year as the first programmable microprocessor was released.
My first speaking gig. On stage at the Sydney Opera House. The same year Steve Wozniak designed the first Apple.
My first article is published in the Daily Telegraph. It was all about Funnel Web Spirders. The Atari Video System is released and Apple releases the Apple 2.
Moved to Casino NSW and grew up behind the counter of a general store. The same year that Sony released the Walkman.
Started working at Strathfield Car Radio selling Mobile Phone. A little thing called the internet was released.
Launched Mobile Phones with the Harvey Norman brand. Microsoft Windows 3.1 launched.
Part of the trial team for SMS technology. Sony Play Station launches in Japan.
Learned the art of copywriting and radio advertising sales with DMG radio. Same year the BlackBerry and Bluetooth were released.
Transferred advertising to and marketing skills to Prime TV. NAPSTER ( remember getting your music from them ?? ) and Apple introduces the iPod.
Became the first Digital Caoch for the Telstra retail channel visiting stores and Training Staff around technology. Same year Facebook launched
Part of the Team launching the iPhone in Australia.
Left corporate world and started Coffee Machine Express Queensland with my Husband. Same year Steve Jobs dies and Apple launches Siri.
Launched first Podcast, the Ex-corporate Hippies Guide to Welleness. Samsung launched first Smart Watch.
Launched Australia's first panel style podcast Not Another Business Show, went viral world wide. Same year a real life hoverboard was launched.
Become a Judge of the inaugural Australian Podcast Awards. Windows 10 says hello. Rise of the drones.
Became an approved Small Business Advisor for the Federal Governments Australian Small Business Advisory Program (ASBAS). Meanwhile Fortnite became a cultural phenomenon. Apple becomes the first 1 Trillion dollar company and Elon launches a Tesla into space.
Became a Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) through the Australia Marketing Institute (AMI). Became a judge of the Australian Books Awards. The world met TikTok. Internet Of Things ( IOT) starts driving business changes.
While the world goes into lockdown, started working opn my first book, The End of Technophobia. Zoom sees a 2000% increase in usage. Battle of the streaming wars.
The End of Technophobia launches and is awarded Australia’s Business Book of the Year and Best Technology Book. Jeff Bezos steps down from Amazon. Facebook becomes Meta and Windows 11 launches.
Launch the Small Business Tech Club and become a resident tech guru on Kochie’s Business builders. Fashion week enters the metaverse.
